Planning and Engagement Team Member

Equitable community-focused architecture is characterized by a design’s ability to capture and reflect diverse voices and experiences, especially those of communities most impacted by inequity. BRIC Architecture is seeking Planning and Engagement team members to lead discussions that foreground the voices of historically underserved communities in intentionally designed processes to learn from all stakeholders and leverage diverse lived experiences to help shape engagement strategies, design implications and long-range planning efforts.

BRIC is seeking candidates who could fulfill a range of responsibilities, including:

• Developing customized outreach and engagement plans, utilizing trusted methodologies to create space for maximum engagement and participation.

• Planning, organizing and facilitating meetings of various group sizes – both in-person and on virtual platforms.

• Supporting long-range planning processes, including gathering and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data.

• Visual storytelling and development of graphic content to support engagement.

• Empathetic listener with ability to connect input received to larger ideas and implications for design.

• Serving as a point-of-contact for school district administrators.

• Serving as an active member of cross-disciplinary project teams.

• Ability to attend and/or facilitate evening meetings, sometimes requiring travel within Oregon or Washington.

We recognize that certain candidates may have well-developed skills in some of the listed areas of responsibility but have less experience with other aspects. We encourage all interested candidates to apply, including those with nontraditional career paths or experiences outside of design and architecture. Qualified candidates will demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills, well-developed organizational skills, and a commitment to racial, cultural and social justice guided by inclusive outreach and authentic engagement. We are especially interested in bilingual and multilingual candidates capable of facilitating in languages other than English and working in multicultural settings.
